Jalandhar 13 January (Jaswinder Azad)- The traditional festival of Punjab, Lohri was celebrated with fun and fervor at CT Group of Institutions on Friday. The theme was also gone along with the celebrations as ‘Punjabiyaan Di Lohri’, emphasizing the need to preserve the cultural and traditional heritage of our festivals. The cultural programme comprised shabad, solo dances, group dances of Bhangra and Giddha, poems and songs depicting Punjabi culture and heritage was held. A huge gathering of traditionally dressed faculty and students lit the bonfire and songs immersed in rich cultural folklore of Punjab like Sunder mundriye ho!!! Tera kaun vicaharaa ho... and others. Everyone enjoyed Rewdi, popcorn and peanuts which were distributed to all. There were traditional instrument performances too which were enjoyed by the audience, the most. They were seen dancing in ecstasy and singing folk songs to the loud, steady beats of the Dhol, Chimta, Tabla and Harmonium.
The students from other educational institutions and general audience along with the faculty members and students from Maqsudan and Shahpur Campus of CT Group Institutions too gathered at the event as the event was open for all. The collections for the same had been made by the students of Department of Management, Shahpur.
Mrs. Parminder Kaur Channi (Co-chairperson) celebrated the event with the students. Mrs. Parminder Kaur Channi while addressing the students urged them to follow the traditional passage of celebrating our festivals with love and affection which is an essence of every festival in the world. She said that the society is changing with modernization and becoming tech-savvy in all aspects, yet the social strength of us lies in preserving and following the traditional cultural values.
