Jalandhar 17 February (Gurkirat Singh)- Under the aegis of Buddhist Study Centre of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, the department of History, Political Science and philosophy are celebrating ‘Enlightenment-2017’ which is a unique Seven day endeavour highlighting the relevance of teachings of Mahatma Buddha in the Contemporary world. The salient feature of this venture is to propagate amongst our youth the importance of the principles of Buddhist philosophy and its relevance in the modern times. ‘Enlightenment-2017’ will comprise of various activities like Meditation session, Seminar, Guest Lecture, Poster-Making competition patronizing the teachings of Lord Buddha. Under this venture, today a Panel discussion on “Buddhist Philosophy in contemporary world’ was organized in which students participated enthusiastically. They expressed their views on Mahatma Buddha’s 8 Fold paths and four noble truths. Principal, Dr. Sucharita Sharma told the students that the teachings of Lord Buddha are highly relevant in the modern times and teaches us a way of life. She applauded the efforts of Mr. Vishaw Bandhu Verma, In charge of Buddhist study centre and Head of Department of History for successfully conducting the session. The judges of this panel discussion were Madam Principal Dr. Sucharita Sharma, Madam Kusum Arora and Dr. Anjana. The winners were awarded with certificates.
