Jalandhar 17 February (Gurkirat Singh)- The students of CT Group of Institutions have come up with android mobile application, which was used by Jalandhar Police Commissionerate during Assembly Election 2017. The application was acknowledged by the Jalandhar Police Commissioner Sh. Arpit Shukla and ADCP Amneet Kondal in the presence of other officials. They also appreciated the students and Mr. Rakesh Rai (IT Official of CT Group) under whose supervision the students created the application; he was also honored by the Election Commission with the prize money of Rs. 10,000. The Election Commission of India and Chief Electoral Officer of Punjab has also recognized their effort and decided to use the application to keep tab on violence and criminal activities during elections in different states of the country. Giving information about the app, Jalandhar Police Commissioner Sh. Arpit Shukla said it has mapped all polling stations in the city with the police stations' concern, patrolling teams, flying squads and even the nearest naka/police barricading points with the contact numbers of all officers for a quick response to any complaint received pertaining to law and order problem. During the Punjab elections, complaints received via/through app were automatically directed by or to the police personnel at the spot within a minute or so while it will also being monitored in a centralised way. As the application has all the contacts, it was used even for making direct calls. “Earlier the application was named Bahattar Ghante (meaning 72 hours), as it was the most crucial time in the last three main election days but now the Election Commission has changed its name to Intezaam,” said Jalandhar Police Commissioner Sh. Arpit Shukla. He said, “The ECI had taken a prototype of the application from us and really appreciated the working of the app"and said that they would not just want it to be used in Punjab but also in other states that are going for lections.” Shukla said the copies of the mobile app would be made available to leaders of all political parties and all voters in the region ahead of the elections. “We have got the wonderful response from people using the application during elections. With this people feel free in sharing their suggestions and problems with us that made the easy flow of polls or conduct of polls easier,” said ADCP Amneet Kondal, who has actively worked on developing the application. S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) and Mr. Manbir Singh (Managing Director, CT Group of Institutions) appreciated the effort of the students, they said, “Using this new technological medium, we have got a privilege to extend our share of social responsibility towards the society. The application helped the Police officials and the voters during these elections.”
