Jalandhar administration starts special campaign to eradicate illegal mining

  • DC forms various teams comprising SDMs, DSP, Mining officers to keep a check on sand mafia
  • ADC (G) appointment as nodal officer for the campaign
  • After surprise checks two cases registered under mining mineral act
Jalandhar, March 23 (Jaswinder Azad)- District administration Jalandhar has initiated a special drive to curb the illegal mining across the district especially along the banks of Satluj river in Phillaur, Nakodar and Shahkot sub-divisions.  After presiding over a meeting of Civil and Police officials regarding this , Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar , Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma has ordered the civil and police official along with mining officers from Industry department to made surprise checks at various places across the district . Mr. Shrama informed  that two cases have been registered FIR no 50 SPL 1 against Jaswant Singh s/o  Darshan Singh,  village Baduwal at Police station Dharamkot (Moga) and  FIR no 51 SPL 2 against Gurbax singh s/o Arjan singh village Pipli at Police station Lohian (Jalandhar). These cases were registered under section 20/21 of Mining Mineral act and tractor and trollies were bound down during last night. It may be mentioned here that the surprise checks were made at Nakodar, Shahkot and Phillaur by teams comprising concerned SDMs, DSPs and mining officers.
Mr. Sharma has also said that ADC (G) Mr. Gurmeet Singh has been appointed as nodal officer, to whom the teams at sub division level will report at every week. He also made it clear that " he will personally monitor the anti sand mafia campaign and there will be zero tolerance policy against the illegal mining".
