Workshop on Mobile Application Development Using Android

Jalandhar 24 March (Jaswinder Azad)- The School of Information Technology of Apeejay Institute of Management Technical Campus two days workshop on “Mobile Application Development using Android”. This workshop was organized by Dr. Kulwant Kaur, Dean and Mr. Ranjit Singh - T&P Officer. The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Kamal Vaid, Software Engineer Net Solutions Pvt Ltd (NSPL), Chandigarh and Former Software Engineer, Smart Data Enterprises Chandigarh, Oracle Certified Java Professional (OCJP), Google Certified Android Developer. Mr. Vaid is also an alumnus of Apeejay Institute of Management Technical Campus.
The focus of the workshop was to give an overview of the Android Operating System, explore its database connectivity and Google Map Integration.  The resource person explained about the different possibilities of career in the field of Mobile Applications Development, availability of opportunities with possible packages and  also handled different queries by the students and staff. He also added that several variations of Android for specific use cases, including Android Wear for wearable devices such as wrist watches. He also elucidated the list of features which Android offers.
The students of MCA second year attended the workshop with full zeal and enthusiasm. This workshop gave them the chance to learn and shape their career with Android Technology. They were taught the entire ecosystem of Android- android architecture, android components etc. The students were told that The Android OS is a software stack of different layers, in which each layer is a group of some program components. It includes operating system, middleware and important applications. Each layer in the architecture provides different services to the layer just above it. They were explained all these layers: Linux Kernel Layer, Native Layer, Application Framework Layer and Applications layer.
Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director, Apeejay Institute of Management Technical Campus, Jalandhar, motivated the students to use  this learning opportunity. Dr. Bagga further expressed, “Considering the open and customizable nature of Android makes it feasible for the device makers to use it on various electronics as well, including laptops and netbooks, smartbooks, cameras, headphones, home automation systems, game consoles, mirrors, media players,and landline telephones, there is a great scope for the students who have expertise in it”.
