700 students Awarded at 132nd Prize Distribution Function at KMV

Jalandhar 22 April (Gurkirat Singh)- To mark 132nd year of its iconic existence, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-the Heritage Institution, Jalandhar organized Annual Prize Distribution Function in recognition of meritorious achievements of its scholars. The Chief Guest, S. Pargat Singh, Padmshree Awardee, MLA, Jalandhar Cantt, was accorded floral felicitations on this occasion. The function was presided over by Sh. Chander Mohan, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal. In his presidential remarks, Sh. Chander Mohan lauded the colossal contribution made by S. Pargat Singh in the international Hockey and for taking India to unprecedented heights in sports arena. ‘Consistent efforts in single-minded pursuit are always rewarded with success’-has been exemplified well by the star sportsman. Welcoming the eminent guests and dignitaries, the college Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi read out a detailed report of the college achievement in diverse activities like co-curricular, sports, NCC as well as cultural. She apprised the guests that as many as 700 prizes were given away to deserving students for bagging top positions in university exams as well as numerous state, national and international level competitions. She reiterated the importance and students holistic development through upgraded pedagogical methods, multifarious intellectual activities, National and International Conferences, MoUs that keep the college campus abuzz. The all round best student of the year Award was bagged by Ms. Rupali, a student of M.Sc. INS. Munificent prizes were given away in the form of trophies as well as scholarships to the outstanding students in different categories.  Best NCC Cadet Ms. Shabnam, an all-rounder for representing Punjab at Republic Day Parade, New Delhi was also honoured. The event also witnessed two releases by the Department of ECA and ‘Sportsline’ by Department of Physical Education respectively on this occasion. Congratulating all the Prize Winners, S. Pargat Singh wished them to scale new heights and attain higher levels of excellence in life. Being an achiever in Sports, he underlines the role of healthy body in nation-building. He shared his insights on today’s education system that should aim at producing role-models with strong character rather than focusing on commercial values of degrees. The need of the hour is to give democratic freedom to out-of-box thinking and its execution to lead the nation to greater heights. The functions concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Neeraj Maini, the organizer of the event who extended her gratitude to all the eminent guests and dignitaries.
