Jalandhar 7 April (Jaswinder Azad)- As a part of the ‘Vaisaakhi’ culture of Punjab and to encourage the youth regarding the art of tying turban, a turban making competition was organized at Lyallpur Khalsa College which was graced by the presence of Giani Gurbachan Singh, Jathedaar, Sri Akaal Takhat Sahib, Amritsar. Numerous students, both girls and boys actively participated in the event and made colorful turbans adding a flavor to the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Giani Gurbachan Singh highlighted the importance of Turban in Sikh History and also the occasion of Visaakhi in the region. College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra emphasized the need of realizing the importance of Turban and the unique identity it renders to the person supporting it. He also expressed his delight on the increasing number of turban supporting students and youngsters. Students adjudged first, second and third in the turban making competition were duly honored on the occasion which was witnessed by the staff of the college while the stage was handled by Dr. Sukhbir Singh.
