Take your Trash with you

  • CT University in association with Ludhiana Traffic Police conducted a Clean Ludhiana awareness drive.
  • Distributed car bins as many as 500 city residents.
Ludhiana 22 April (Jaswinder Azad)- Munching on the street food and throwing the wrappers on the ground is a general practice while eating along the street. We come across “Keep the city clean and green” slogan on the board at the entrance in any city. In Ludhiana, this slogan seems to have lost ground.
Keeping this in mind, CT University with a motive to encourage people towards making their city clean and green held an awareness drive in association with Ludhiana Traffic Police. The members of the management, faculty and staff distributed car bins among as many as 500 city residents. The drive was held in different places of city including Bharat Nagar Chowk, Bhai Wala Chowk and others. A signature campaign having a rally was also conducted.
Under this initiative, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Mr. Dhruv Dahiya guided the residents to carry car trash bins in their vehicles in order to avoid throwing garbage or waste material on the roads. He said, “CT Group of Institutions has been on the front foot in performing CSR activities. This initiative is one of the milestones among such motivational and awareness activities conducted by them. Earlier they organized a Traffic Awareness drive too.”
It is to mention that dearth of garbage bins at public places makes the matter worse. Be it the bus stand, the ‘Chaupati’ (as we call it) or even in the Bazars, no garbage bin has been placed anywhere in the city. People litter garbage in nooks and corners and over the days it turns into a dump which eventually spreads dirt and foul odour all across the street. Garbage bins should be placed in and around the city. A small effort on our part can make the city clean.
Dr. Harsh Sadawarti (Pro. Vice Chancellor, CT University) believed, “Keeping our City Clean, Green & Beautiful is up to all of us. We invite you to get involved! Together we can improve the physical environment and the quality of life in our City.  Clean, green & beautiful cities attract visitors, highly skilled workers and investment and enable us to live, work and play in well maintained, safe and pleasant surroundings.” Joining in, S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group) said, “We want the residents to be proud of where they live which is why we raise awareness and proactively tackle this problem.”
