Khalsa College awarded FIST Grant of Rs. 1.5 Crores

Jalandhar 3 May (Jaswinder Azad)- Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar has been awarded a grant of Rs.1.5 Crores by the DST under FIST (Funds for Improvement of Science and Technology Infrastructure) 'O' level scheme . This was informed by the College Principal Dr. GS Samra in a press release today who said that a proposal regarding this was submitted to DST a few months back and a subsequent presentation was given in Bhubaneswar by the College. He also informed that this grant was for the Science departments of the College. Dr. Samra said that in last 5 years college had received, from various funding agencies, grants for research activities, infrastructural development and introduction of new courses and these included UGC infrastructure and research grant, development grant, FIST Program grant, grants for Major and Minor Research projects, grants for organization of conferences, workshops and seminars and the much coveted Potential for Excellence status by the UGC. Owing to the achievements of the college, the Skill Council of India had awarded skill courses to the college.  He said that the FIST grant would be utilised for the quality enhancement in teaching and research, infrastructural development and also for promoting research activities in students. He attributed this achievement of the college to the Governing Council President Mrs. Balbir Kaur and the staff of the College.
