The faculty and staff members formed a human chain showing their recognition towards the implementation
Jalandhar 30 June (Jaswinder Azad)- A human chain was arranged in the premises of CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur Campus to welcome the implementation of Goods and Service Tax (GST) from July 1, 2017. More than 200 faculty and staff members formed the human chain showing their appreciation towards the implementation of this tax. They introduced GST as a ‘single tax’ applied on the supply of goods & services, right from the manufacturer to the consumer, in which the credits of input taxes paid at each stage will be available in the subsequent stage of value addition, which makes GST essentially a tax only on value addition at each stage.
GST was mooted by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government in the year 2000. It took roughly 17 years for GST Bill to be passed in Parliament and it reflects on the functioning of democracy in the country. S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group) mentioned, “We as education providers always aspire to equip everyone with the knowledge of latest and current issues that directly or indirectly impacts everyone’s life. The implementation of Goods and Services tax will be fundamental.”
