Jalandhar 8 June (Jaswinder Azad)- HMV took another step towards its Mission of Going Green by promoting green technology. Adding a new feather in its cap, the college has installed Waste Paper Recycling Unit which will be utilized to recycle waste/used paper from students, office to generate various eco-friendly items. It will be used to recycle waste/used paper, cardboard, tetra packs, Xerox paper, denim material etc. Papers of different thickness, colour and quality depending upon the requirement will be generated through this machine. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen told that this is the first recycling machine to be installed by any college affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University. Paper can be recycled three times and the waste water from the machine can be utilized for gardening purpose. No chemical is used during the whole process except alum. Recycled paper can be used for making office files, folders, envelope, gift wraps, packing material etc. Faculty members, students and supporting staff have been trained to operate this machine. Working of most of the parts of this machine is manual so we are saving electricity too. On this occasion Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen said that it will be anew milestone to achieve the goal of green technology and will help in the environment conservation and sustainable utilization of the resources. Dr. Meena Sharma, HOD Botany said that this practice will help to stop the cutting of trees and take off the pressure from Mother Nature.
