- Student’s enthusiasm on higher side, few seats left in professional courses
Jalandhar 10 July (Gurkirat Singh)- Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, a premier institute of North India in the field of women education, is offering many courses for making the girls independent and capable. Many courses are traditional but some professional courses are also being offered to the students which will be helpful for them to become entrepreneurs. Under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen, the college is offering professional courses to the students which are recognized by UGC. In arts stream, the college is offering B.A., B.Sc. Economics, M.A. in Hindi, English, Punjabi, political science, music vocal and music instrumental. The college has started M.A. Punjabi from this session only and the response is tremendous. In science stream, the college is offering B.Sc. Medical, Non-medical, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, M.Sc. Botany and M.Sc. Bioinformatics. It is worth mentioning that the science department of HMV is equipped with latest equipments and it has been granted the Star status by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. The college has started M.Sc. Maths from this year and the students are showing great interest in it. The computer department of the college is offering B.Sc. IT, B.Sc. Comp. Sc., BCA, M.Sc. IT, M.Sc. Comp. Sc. and PG diploma in computer application. Few seats are left in these courses. In commerce department, B.Com., BBA, M.Com. and PG diploma in business administration is being offered to the students. The college is also providing one year diploma courses to the students which will be of great help for the students to become independent. It includes PG diploma in cosmetology, PG diploma in counseling, PG diploma in garment construction. The college has four year professional degree of BFA, B.D., Multimedia, B.Sc. fashion designing and M.Sc. fashion designing. Under B.Voc courses the college is offering banking and financial services and web technology and multimedia which are in great demand. Under community college scheme of UGC, the college is running 2 courses, i.e., diploma in journalism and media and advance diploma in fashion designing. There is no age limit for taking admission in these courses and these courses work on the concept of ‘earn while you learn’. Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen said that college is providing every possible facility and best of the infrastructure to the students. The college has international standards swimming pool, badminton academy, fitness gym, hitech library, HMV campus TV, AC hostel, NCC, NSS, campus placement cell, etc. Deserving students also get scholarships from the college. She said that the aim of the college is not only to make the girls educated but their holistic growth so that they can build their career. She said that the interested students should contact college admission desk so as to avoid late fee.
