Jalandhar 28 October (Gurkirat Singh)- DAV College, Jalandhar today inaugurated a new corner in Lajpat Rai Library named as Dr BR Ambedkar study corner sponsored by Shri Ram Lal Dass, an alumnus of college. Inauguration ceremony was organised jointly by Lajpat Rai Library and Political Science department. Shri Ram Lal Dass donated 101 rare books written by and related with Dr. BR Ambedkar to the college library worth 50,000 Rs. and formed a special corner in library named as Dr. BR Ambedkar study corner. Ceremony started with the welcome of huge number of dignitaries including Shri Ram Lal Dass as the Chief Guest and other guests were Sh. Ramesh Chander (Retd. IFS Ambassador), Sh. Malkiat Singh (IPS, ADGP of UP and Chairman of Public Service Commission), Sh. Ram Lubhaya Jassi (IPS, Retd. ADGP of Jammu and Kashmir), Sh. Sohan lal(DPI Retd.), Sh. Sandeep Mehmi (Asstt. Registrar PTU), Sh. Sohan Kumar (AIR, Jalandhar), Sh. Brijesh Kumar ( Teacher DAV College), Sh. Tilak Raj (Indian Bank), Sh. Sham Lal (Indian Overseas Bank), Sh. Gurdev Chand (Suptt. Central Excise Deptt.), Sh. Paramjit Mahey, Sh. Harmesh Jassal (Indian Airlines Retd.), Dr. KK Ghai. Lamp lightening ceremony was done by Chief Guest, Ram Lal Dass followed by other respected guests and Dr. SK Arora (Principal of DAV College, Jalandhar), Prof VK Sareen(Vice Principal), Prof T D Saini ( Vice Principal),Dr. BB Sharma (HOD of Political Science department) and Naveen Saini (librarian). Dr. BB Sharma (HOD of Political Science department) appreciated Ram Lal Dass for donating books. He quoted Dr BR Ambedkar saying that "a man is not poor without money but a man is poor without dreams and ambitions". He inspired the students for dreaming big. Librarian Naveen Saini thanked Shri Ram Lal Dass for donating 101 books like "Constitution of India", "Annihilation of Caste", "Thoughts on Pakistan", "Ranade, Gandhi and Jinnah", "The Untouchables", "Thoughts of linguistic State" and so on. He said library is honoured with the special corner of Dr BR Ambedkar. This study corner will be highly benefial for the students, teachers and reasearch workers. Shri Ram Lal Dass (Chief Guest) said that for knowing the motive of Dr BR Ambedkar, one must read the literature provided by him. Dr. BR Ambedkar was highly revolutionary and Laski(Political Scholar) has said that he will be a great revolution in his own country. Shri Ramesh Chander (IFS Ambassador, Retd.) said that Dr. BR Ambedkar was so fond of books that in his time he made a house not for residing in that house but for keeping his books over there. There were thousands of books in that house and Dr. BR Ambedkar knew each and every minute detail of every book present there. Malkiat Singh( Retd. IPS) said that when he was a student in DAV College, Jalandhar he was very keen on reading Dr BR Ambedkar. He also gave a kind message to everyone for not only cleaning the surroundings but also cleaning the minds and that's the only way left for India to develop entirely. Shri Ram Lubhaya Jassi said that when tgere is exploitation in society, people come on road and no coercive instrument can cease them. Present society will lead to such a situation. People are losing tolerance. For breaking stereotypes and gaining tolerance, one must follow the path of Dr BR Ambedkar. Prof. KK Ghai said that in a very small age Dr BR Ambedkar has done alot for Indian society. He has contributed alot in the drafting of Indian Constitution. He gave the message of equality, fraternity and unity in diversity. Dr. SK Arora (Principal of DAV College, Jalandhar) said that Dr. BR Ambedkar was an inspiring personality and one can learn alot by reading writings by him. He has contributed alot in uplifting the downtrodden society of Indian. His contribution in drafting The Indian Constitution is momentous. We all should take the benefit of Dr BR Ambedkar study corner to develop our mindset and for rising more in life. Prof. VK Sareen (Vice Principal of DAV College, Jalandhar) said that Shri Ram Lal Dass provided a fountain of knowledge for the students and teachers pf college. They can't create history who forget history. For rising in future, one must not forget past. Dr BR Ambedkar had studied the situation of India of his time and went abroad by keeping in minds the problems of India and finding appropriate solutions. In the end, everyone stood up for National Anthem. Dr. SK Arora (Principal of DAV College, Jalandhar), Prof. VK Sareen (Vice Principal of DAV College, Jalandhar), Librarian Naveen Saini, Dr BB Sharma (HOD of Political Science department), Dr Sanjiv. Dhawan, Dr Manu Sood, Dr Dinesh Arora, Prof. Sandeep, Prof. Ravi, Prof. Maninder Khullarr and PRO Prof. Manish Khanna were the teachers present.
