Jalandhar 17 February (Gurkirat Singh)- Students of DAV College , Jalandhar participated in DBT sponsored Scifiesta - 2018 organized by Doaba College, Jalandhar on February 15, 2018. Theme of the event was "Science and Technology for Evolving India ". Various competitions under different themes were conducted during the event. These included Poster presentation, Quiz, Model, Idea factory, Rangoli, Painting, Scientoon, Photography, Gastro fest and Dance items related to science and technology. The aim of the event was to identity and nurture future scientists and technologists and disseminate knowledge and information on the latest developments in science and technology. More than 50 students of BSc Medical, BCA and students of zoology and botany departments participated in this science fair in various activities. Major achievements of the students during the Scifiesta were Overall Best Model Making Award ( Divya Suppal and Shreya Marwaha of B. Sc. Medical Sem VI ), Best Innovative Scientific Food Preparation award (Smily Kalra of B. Sc. Medical Sem VI), Scietoon overall best (Anukriti), Best innovative dance (Anukriti), Science quiz ( Harshita, Leena and Prashant), Appreciation award in Model presentation (Muskan of B.Sc. Medical Sem IV). During the event, students came across various recent and beneficial science related technologies. Dr. S. K Arora, Principal, DAV College, Jalandhar, appericiated the efforts put in by students and staff and congratulated all on this success. Dr. Komal Arora, Head, Department of Botany and Dr. Karuna Mittal, Head Department of Zoology also applauded for the grand success of DAVians at Doaba Sci-fiesta. She encouraged students for sincere and honest efforts in future too. Students were accompanied by Dr. Baljeet Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, Prof Pankaj bagga (Vice president,Darwin Zoological Society), Prof Shubham kapil of PG department of Zoology DAV College, Jalandhar.
