Thousands of students participated in ‘Helmet Pehniye, Surakshit Chaliye’ campaign
Jalandhar 27 February (Jaswinder Azad)- Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya has added another feather in its cap by participating in mega attempt of making new world record. The students of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya participated in a joint campaign of Dainik Jagran, Punjabi Jagran, Radio City and Punjab Police. The campaign was ‘Helmet Pehniye, Surakshit Chaliye’. The chief guest of the occasion was DGP Punjab Sh. Suresh Arora, Chairman Local Committee Justice (Retd.) Sh. N.K. Sud and Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen welcomed him with flowers. IG Sh. Aript Shukla, Commissioner of Police Sh.P.K. Sinha, ADGP PAP Sh. Kuldeep Singh, ADGP Traffic Sh. Sharat were also present. DGP Sh. Suresh Arora congratulated for making an attempt of a world record by wearing helmets for 7 minutes. He said that with the help of such awareness campaigns, the accidental death rate has decreased by 16%. He said that Punjab Police had started the Helmet campaign in association with Dainik Jagran group in 6 districts of Punjab.
Earlier in the day, MP Sh. Santosh Chaudhary was the Guest of Honour. He said that wearing helmets is a very important issue. Every minute an accident happens in India. In those accidents where casualty is there, it is because of not wearing helmets. He said that the venue chosen for making an attempt of such a record is centre of excellence. It is a great institution which already has so many records in its name. The students of HMV and other institutions wore helmets for 7 minutes and attempted to create a new record by giving a message of self protection to the whole world. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen thanked Jagran Group for making HMV a part of great attempt. From Radio City RJ Himanshu and RJ Rozer also entertained the audience. Singers Diljaan, Surinder Laddi and Jagdev also enthralled the audience with their melodious songs. Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Dr. Shikha gave information about Swachhta App. On this occasion, CGM Jagran Group Sh. Mohinder, Executive Editor Sh. Vishwaparkash Tripathi, Editor Punjabi Jagran Sh. Varinder Walia, Resident Editor Sh. Amit Sharma, Sr. News Editor Sh. Vijay Gupta, General Manager Sh. Neeraj Sharma, Radio City Head Mrs. Seema Soni and other dignitaries were also present. Campaign Ambassadors of 6 districts of Punjab were also honoured. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen congratulated the organizing team of the college for such a big attempt. Dean Youth Welfare Mrs. Navroop, Dr. Rajeev Kumar, Mrs. Ramnita Saini Sharda, Mrs. Urvashi Mishra, Mr. Amarjit Khanna and other staff members were present there.
