Jalandhar 27 February (Jaswinder Azad)- In recognition of academic excellence and meritorious achievements of its scholars, the Autonomous and Heritage Institution – Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organized Annual Prize Distribution Function. The Chief Guest Hon’ble Smt.Aruna Chaudhary, Education Minister, Punjab was accorded floral felicitations on this occasion. The Presiding Dignitary Sh.Chander Mohan Ji, President, Aryan Shiksha Mandal, welcoming the distinguished guest, reaffirmed his faith in the immense potential and monumental will of the vidyalaya’s scholars, mentoring skills of the faculty and futuristic and motivational guidance of the college Principal that are taking the institution to newer heights year after year.
The college Principal, Prof. Atima sharma Dwivedi, read out a detailed report of the college’s outstanding achievements in the field of academics, co-academics, sports, cultural activities etc. As many as 700 prizes were given away to the deserving scholars. Enumerating numerous success stories, Prof. Dwivedi apprised the eminent guests that the institution is creating history with its momentous milestones in the academic arena. KMV – the Heritage Institution is the first women institution in Punjab to gain the coveted status of the Autonomous institution – the position that bestows the college with freedom to bring about academic reforms for the evolution of Human Society. She also detailed the guests that the college has been selected for phase II of FIST grant worth 1.10 crores by Ministry of Science & Technology.
The event witnessed the releases of a book titled the Human Story – A compilation of various modules of Foundation Course (an innovative programme aimed to bridge the gap between High School and Higher Education at College Level) edited by Dr.Deepika Anand and the second issue of Indian Journal of Empirical Researches : A Journal of Commerce & Management respectively. The P.G.Department of Commerce & Management also released a journal named Wings : A Flight Towards Excellence comprising research articles by the scholars of the dept. The contribution of Dr.Manmohan Singh, P.G.Deptt. of Physics and Mrs. Narinderjit Kaur, Deptt. Of Chemistry in the field of research was duly honoured by the institution in this occasion.
The best student of the year 2017-18 Award was bagged by Ms. Pardeep, a student of BA-III for her outstanding performance in academic as well as cultural activities and competitions at various levels.
Congratulating the prize winners, Smt. Aruna Chaudhary wished them for their bright future and expressed her profound pleasure on her maiden visit to this iconic and historic institution. With an imbued sense of pride and glory, Smt. Chaudhary eulogised the inspirational stories being carved in the annals of history by the young scholars of the college. She exhorted the girl-students to join the field of politics.
To reach out to the women-folk so that women empowerment becomes a tangible reality, not just a cliché. To achieve this goal, she has especially prepared a road-map in her present portfolio, with special focus on the pre-primary level of education to lay a strong foundation of future building in student's life. The formal vote of thanks was accorded by esteemed Sh.Alok Sondhi, General Secretary, K.M.V. Managing Committee to all the distinguished guests and luminaries for gracing the occasion.
