KMV Granted 1.1 crore FIST grant by Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India

  • Becomes the only college in Punjab to get FIST grant under Second Phase
Jalandhar 6 February (Gurkirat Singh)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya - The Heritage and Autonomous Institution,  has got a grant Rs. 1.1 crore under the second phase of FIST programme of Dept. of Science and Technologty, Govt of India. Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal KMV maintained that this grant will be used to strengthen teaching and research facilities in all the science departments of the College. The College has successfully completed the first phase of FIST grant worth Rs. 70 Lakh. Under first phase the College has created many teaching  learning facilities, a net working lab, an e-learning lab and sophisticated research equipments like FTIR, UV Visible spectrometer, Muffle furnaces and  LCR meter. With these facilities students have been able to pursue their research within the college itself. For this grant DST had invited proposals from  different colleges and Universities who have completed the first phase of FIST effectively. KMV is the only college in Punjab selected for second phase of this grant. This selection was based upon a presentation which was made by Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi in a DST meeting held at Kalavakkam, Tamilnadu. She was accompanied by Dr. Gopi Sharma, Dept. of Physics. This grant will further strengthen the infrastructure with new lab equipment and advanced teaching learning and research facilities. With this support KMV will stand out amongst scientific research institutions of national repute in the region and make colossal endeavors for promoting scientific temper in the students.
