Jalandhar 26 February (Jaswinder Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-the Autonomous and Heritage Institution, Jalandhar organized an extensions lecture on Philosophy of Science under DBT star college scheme. Dr. Arvind, Prof. (Physics) and Dean (R&D) from Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (IISER). Mohali was the resource person for the day's lecture. Students of M.Sc. Physics. and B.Sc. (final year) comprised the audience. In a very interesting way Dr. Arwind explained the universality of sciences. He asserted that science was above the narrow parochial boundaries of community, caste and religion. According to him the three pillars of all sciences are logics, observations and community. Relating the big bang theory with Hubble Law he exhorted students to be more curious about their environment in order to explore the truth. Leaving the day with an open question as to why galaxies are getting accelerated outwards despite gravitational force, he had a huge positive impact on the audience. Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the Dept. of Physics for having organized lecture on a multi disciplinary topic that was pertinent to our times. She also thanked profusely Dr. Arvind for sparing precious time to interact with the students.
