Jalandhar 28 February (Gurkirat Singh)- Leaving a mark of excellence, Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar’s 6th International Design Week concluded on a positive note. The focus of this design week centered upon the beautification of Jalandhar City while evaluating the relevance of designs at industrial level. International dignitaries Mr. Rene Pijnenburg, Ms. Fleur, Mr. Ge Smit guided the 260 students of Departments of Design, Multimedia, Fine Arts and Applied Art. Under the enlightening spirits of Resource Persons, the students based their projects on the concepts of community parks, railway station, streets. Projects were based on making Jalandhar as a city that provides feeding, healing and cleaning. Along with the International Resource Persons, Mrs. Purnima Beri, President, Harivallabh Sangeet Sabha, Jalandhar, Mrs. Neena Sondhi, from F.C. Sondhi & Co. Ltd. and Mrs. Ronita Chopra, illumined the occasion as judges. They evaluated the works of students who worked in diverse teams to make their projects. Principal Dr. Sucharita expressed her elation at the fruitful conclusion of this enterprise and said that a designer needs to use his/her creativity according to the market value along with shaping his/her creativity into concrete arts. She further highlighted the importance of social media in paving the road to success for a designer. Proud expressed in her words while sharing Prof. Sarabjot Singh Behl’s invitation to contribute artistically in giving a new shape to Amritsar airport. Mr. Rene shared his views that every person has a hidden talent which should be utilized to eliminate the social evils not only at regional but global level. In this venture, Mr. Mukul Dev, Director, Saavi International, Mr. Tabby Bhatia, CEO, Voganow and Mr. Naresh Arora, Head, Pujab Kesari Digital were also present. The valedictory function concluded with meticulously presented cultural Gidha and Holi Dance. Even, the foreign delegates could not stop their feet to move on the beats of Dhol.
