KMV Organizes Annual Athletics Meet-2018

Jalandhar 29 March (Gurkirat Singh)- At Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar the Heritage and Autonomous Institution, joyous jubilation of festivity marked the annual Athletics Meet. The day began with the March Past in which 10 sports teams all with players of national and international repute marched to the tune of the band along with their teammates. The prade was led by Hira Softball player of International repute who has participated in 4 Federation cups, won Bronze at Junior national and gold in all India Inter University event besides participation in many North-zone events among many feathers in her cap.  Bursting the crackers, releasing of balloons into the sky and freeing the Dove Symbolic of peace and celebration rendered the air vibrant with positively after the chief guest of the day. Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi declared the sports Meet open formally. All the players pledged to participate in the athletics meet without doping/drugs and in the true spirit of sportsmanship for the glory of sports and the honour of the college. The Annual Athletics meet provided an opportunity for participation to one and all. The day full of competitions, victorious and medals began with 100 mt race for both Non-Athletes and Athletes followed by Three Leg Race, 200 mts race Obstacle Race, Long Jump (Athletes) (Non-Athletes), Sack Race, Needle &  Thread Race, 400 Mts (Athletes) 100 mts Back Race, Spoon and Potato Race. The staff also experienced the thrill of participating and winning in various events like Male Staff 100 mts, Female staff 50 mts race and also an exclusive race for Mess Employes. Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the Head Dept. of Physical Education Ms. Ashoo Bajaj and the faculty for organizing such a happy and learning occasion for everyone outside the traditional classroom. She said that everyone should join sports as it taught a multiple of virtues like, discipline, Physical fitness, comradeship among many others. The results of various games were :- In 100 meter back race Manpreet stood first, Pradeep stood second and Prabhjeet stood third. In the game of musical chairs organized for the female teaching staff Sharanjeet stood first, Updesh Kaur bagged second position and Rupinder was placed on third position. The title of best athlete in non players won by Pradeep and in players it was won by Manju. It was overall a thrilling experience for one and all which concluded with a fusion folk (Himachali & Punjabi) dance.
