Youth Development Forum Inaugurated
Jalandhar 31 March (Jaswinder Azad)- Responding to the foremost Youth challenges of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-the Heritage and Autonomous Institution, Jalandhar inaugurated Youth Development Forum on its campus. The chief guest esteemed Mr. Vijay Sampla, Hon'ble Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment was accorded floral felicitation on this occasion. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Sh. Chander Mohan, President, KMV Managing Committee. The event witnessed deliberation on this momentous issue in an interactive session on Leadership Challenges in Public Life. Welcoming the esteemed guest, the college Principal, Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi elaborate upon the iconic role being played by KMV in higher education and development of young women leaders. Being the first Autonomous women institution, KMV has taken a lead with its newly acquired academic freedom to redesign various syllabi by adding practical component to meet the demands of industry. Skill Development courses and value added programmes like Foundation course, Moral Education, Personality Development, Reasoning and Analytical Ability etc. being run in the college are some innovation steps aimed at multi-dimensional grooming of youth.
This interactive session witnessed an overwhelming participation from students of all streams who sought to seek ways to meet their challenges through their queries. Responding to these, Sh. Vijay Sampla lauded Youth Power with tremendous potential that needs to be channelized. He expressed his dissatisfaction over the present day academic framework devoid of moral education that aims to prepare modern Youth only for lucrative jobs where as inculcation of sound moral values is the ultimate panacea. He enumerated various govt. initiatives like Digital India, Make in India, Skilled India aimed to provide today's youth with better future opportunities. The Outstanding members of Students Council were awarded prizes for their exemplary leadership roles performed during the academic session. Students with top positions in recent results were also awarded by the Union Minister. The Presiding Dignitary Sh. Chander Mohan expressing his concern over the transition India is facing owing to technology opined that Automation can pose biggest challenge to youth in future. So in this scenario, the role of educational institutions is to make them job-ready but to ensure gainful opportunities is Govt. responsibility. To achieve this objective, youth should not only be empowered, skilled but also be trained in observation of rules, acceptance of individual responsibilities and civic duties. The organizers of the event extended a vote of thanks to the distinguished guests on this occasion. Dr. Satpal Gupta, Member, KMV Managing Committee, Sh. Ramesh Sharma, BJP, President of this constituency were also present on this occasion.
