A collaborative venture of KMV and Police Commissionerate
Jalandhar 19 March (Jaswinder Azad)- Tech Empowerment of Women Leaders- a series of six day workshops being conducted by P.G. Dept. of Computer Science & Applications as a collaborative venture initiated by Women Studies Centre of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-the Autonomous and Heritage Institutions with the Commissionerate of Police, Jalandhar concluded successfully today. The chief guest for the valedictory function Sh. Parveen Kumar Sinha, Commissioner Police, Jalandhar and the guest of honour Sh. Gurmeet Singh, DCP and Mr. Gautam Singhal, ADCP were accorded floral felicitations by the College Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi. Welcoming the guests, Madam Principal expatiated her views on the dire need of getting equipped with latest technological skills in this fast-paced world today as ICT has become the backbone of every domain of our life. She also apprised the audience that KMV has been taking substantial initiatives in providing empowerment to women in general and KMVites in particular. Accelerative pace of change makes it impressive for everyone to continually upgrade one's skills in sync with day today requirements. With this aim and intent, workshops witnessed the skill-training of as many as 180 women police cops in theory as well as in practice. These cops were trained to enhance their professional performance through various modules like Computer Basics, MS word, MS Excel, E-mail creation, Social Websites and softwares like Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) being used by the Police Dept.
A Certificate test was carried out to award grades to the police personnels according to their performance. The 180 women employees who had undergone this training were given certificate. The resource Persons who had provided training during the workshop were also given certificates of appreciation.
Congratulating the participants on the successful culmination of this series of workshops, commissioner Police Sh. Sinha lauded the efforts of organizers of these workshops for taking this step towards women empowerment. He averred that to overcome their disadvantageous position, women should acquire knowledge as a tool to boost their self-confidence and self-respect for attaining empowerment. The presence of 6% ladies in male-dominated Police force needs to be challenged with the inclusion of more women.
The esteemed Sh. Alok Sondhi, General Secretary KMV Managing Committee extended a formal vote of thanks to all eminent dignitaries and the organizers of this workshop. With his deep sense of gratitude, he expressed that this august Institutions would continue to render to the course of women empowerment by restrengthing its bond and commitment with more such laudable ventures. Madam Principal lauded the sincere endeavors of the P.G. Dept of Computer Science and Applications under the leadership of Mrs. Suman Khurana. She also appreciated Mrs. Seema Jain, Dr. Madhumeet and Mrs. Amanpreet Khurana.
