Jalandhar 24 March (Gurkirat Singh)- A workshop on ‘Fundamentals of Remote Sensing G.I.S and their applications’ was organised by Post Graduate Department of Geography at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar in association with Punjab Remote Sensing Centre, Ludhiana. Dr. D.C. Loshali and Dr. R.K. Setia from the centre were the Key Speakers who well explained the basics of Remote Sensing, Geographic Information System (G.I.S), Global Positioning System (G.P.S) and their diverse applications and use. Students were also demonstrated and exposed to instruments, software and process of these technologies in the department labs. Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra while welcoming and addressing the gathering stressed for the proper use of the new developments in science and technologies for solving our problems and human welfare. While presenting vote of thanks to all Prof. J.S. Rana H.O.D Geography Department highlighted the utility of these inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary sciences and technologies and their incorporation and use in geography and also always to update and upgrade ourselves in the global context. Dr. Pooja Rana conducted the stage. Present were Prof. Daljit Singh and Prof. Puneet Kalra from Doaba College, Prof. J.P. Singh and Prof. Sneh from Govt. College, Kapurthala, Dr. Harvinder Singh from Govt. College Bhulath, Prof. Manita from L.K.C.Women and Dr. Lakhwinder Singh, Prof. Geetanjali, Prof. Rohit Rana, Prof. Deepa Chaudhary etc.
