Jalandhar 2 May (Jaswinder Azad)- At Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Autonomous and Heritage Institution, Jalandhar extending academic activities beyond classroom is a routine. Extension lectures are a routine and K.M.V. Department of Biotechnology recently organized an extension lecture on Herbal Biotechnology. The resource person for the same was Dr. Pratap Kumar Pati, Prof and Head of Department of Biotechnology. He elaborated on the basics and applied aspects of Biotechnology and Herbal Biotechnology. He made students aware about the importance of Biotechnology for the production of Foods and products from different Herbal plant varieties. He also explained at length the generation of Transgenic plants and their roles in prevention and cure of diseases. He gave examples of Banana with edible vaccines, Stevia rebaudiana for the cure of Diabetes, withania somniferea for the cure of Blood cancer etc. The rapt audience was regaled with how Herbal Biotechnology could work wonders in cure and prevention of many diseases. He concluded his lecture with the statement Eat Good and Stay Healthy. Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi thanked the guest for sparing his invaluable time and updating young scholars with the latest in Biotechnology cure.
