NSS unit of HMV organised first aid training camp for students

Jalandhar 1 May (Jaswinder Azad)- A First-Aid Training Camp was organised at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar under the able leadership of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen.  During the camp, training was imparted to more than 200 students by Mr. Kaka Ram, Former Secretary of the Red Cross Society, Patiala.
Mr. Kaka Ram told the students that first-aid required readiness of brainpower and a certain fixed rules so that precious lives may be saved by some protective measures. For such situations requisite training must be obtained. With necessary training and a humane approach one can be well equipped to face health emergencies. He said the health emergency situations could include heart attack, blood loss, hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia, road accidents or any other unforeseen situation inside or outside one’s home. He also demonstrated how a patient should be treated in various emergency situations.
Addressing the students, Principal Prof. Dr. Ajay Sareen, said, “A judicious first-aid is the thin line between life and death. Timely medical help to fellow human beings regardless of caste creed and gender is a gesture of humanity and cohesion.” The students were also trained about the manner in which victims should be made to lie on stretcher, how to lift them on arms and tips about blood pressure and sugar levels.
Programme Officer Mrs. Veena Arora said that it is the responsibility of every individual to offer help and first aid in emergency situations.  Speaking on the occasion, program officer Dr. Anjana Bhatia said that First Aid knowledge is precious for the students, both as an individual and for the community. It facilitates the trainee to lend a hand to persons who become wounded in the event of an accident or emergency situation until help arrives. First Aid proficiency can be applied in the home, the workplace or in public locations, therefore the more First Aid certified people there are in a community the safer that community becomes. Assistant Programme Officers Mrs. Alka and Ms. Harmanu also participated in the training programme and motivated students to become responsible citizens of the country.
