The colleges of Punjab have not received grant for Post Matric Scholarship from the government

Jalandhar 5 June (Jaswinder Azad)- The colleges of Punjab have not received grant for Post Matric Scholarship from the government in toto. This information was given by Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra the President of Principals' Association Non Govt. Affiliated College, who said that the issue of pending grant was thoroughly discussed in the meeting of the principals Association and it was decided to take up the issue with the Government. Dr. Samra informed that In 2014-15,  75% of the total scholarship amount was paid to the colleges. In 2015-16 this amount was reduced to 30% and no amount was received for the years 206-17 and 2017-18. He said that the small and rural colleges were already facing financial crisis but now the financial condition of bigger and urban colleges was also worsening due to this non payment of grant amount. He also informed that certain conditions had been laid upon the colleges for  receiving post matric scholarship  but following these conditions was almost impossible for the colleges. He requested the government to reconsider the conditions and release the grant amount as early as possible so that the financial conditions of the colleges might be improved. In the otherwise condition, the colleges would be left with no other option but  to admit students on payment of full fee.
