HMV adopted 5 villages under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan

Jalandhar 20 July (Jaswinder Azad)- Adding another feather to its cap, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya has adopted five villages under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, a campaign to uplift the villages by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).  The aim of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is to connect institution of higher education of excellence with local communities to address the development challenges through appropriate technologies.  Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya is the only college in the region that has been selected for Unnat Bharat Abhiyan.  A meeting with the Panchayat members of the adopted villages – Dhaliwal, Lamba Pind, Tajpur, Gillan and Khambra was organized in the college.  On this occasion, Mr. Himanshu Jain, IAS was the chief guest.  Principal Prof. Dr.(Mrs.) Ajay Sareen chaired the meeting and welcomed the guests.  Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Team Coordinator Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda gave the overview of campaign, highlighting the major problems of villages that need to be solved on the urgent basis.
Himanshu Jain, IAS, in his address, said that it is only with the support of each and everyone from the community which will help us to achieve our goals.  Not only the basic requirements of the villages, but the major problem of drugs will be also tackled at the ground level.  He further said that mission of shaping a village into model village will be accomplished soon.
Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen said that the students are the real agents of change who can develop, empower and brighten the future of villages.  The students along with the team will go to the adopted villages to get acquainted with the life of the village people and the problems faced by them in day to day life.  She visited that college along with the support of district administration and villagers will try to bring out practical solutions for the betterment of society.  She advised Panchayat members to involve local village people at every stage of problem identification and solving issues related to health, cleanliness, plantation, waste management.  The Panchayat members discussed their problems and showed their interest in working towards the betterment and uplifting of their respective villages.  The planters, HMV News and College Prospectus was presented to the present members.  The vote of thanks was given by Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda.  On this occasion, Dr. Rajiv Kumar, NSS Coordinator, Mr. Sushil Kumar, Dr. Minakshi Duggal, Mr. Vidhu Vohra, Ms. Kuldeep, Ms. Nandini were also present.
