MISSION TANDARUST PUNJAB- JOINT TEAM OF POLICE AND HEALTH DEPARTMENT SEIZE MEDICINES WORTH RS 1.47 LAKH STORED ILLEGALLY FROM A HOUSE IN BASTI GUZAN

Jalandhar 12 July (Jaswinder Azad)- In order to ensure proper implementation of mission Tandarust Punjab, a joint team of the city police and drug officials of health department seized a major haul of medicines worth Rs 1.47 lakh stocked illegally from a house in Basti Guzan locality.
The team consisting Assistant Commissioner of Police (West) Sarbjeet Rai, Zonal Licensing Authority (ZLA) Karun Sachdev, Drug Inspector Anupama Kalia, Dealing Assistant Dinesh Kumar and others inspected Sharma Medical Hall in Mithu Basti locality. Divulging the details Karun Sachdev said thait the team checked the records and seized 486 tablets and capsules of various brands from the shop as its owner failed to show purchase records.
He said that then, the team raided a house in Basti Guzan locality and recovered 8410 tablets, 336 capsules, 95 injections, 432 MTP kits, 200 syringes and other syrups stored illegally in a house in Basti Guzan locality.
Following this, he said that the team searched a shop Mittu Medical Agencies in Dilkusha Market, wholesale market of medicines and two types of habit-forming drugs (325 tablets) were seized due to non-production of purchase record.
ZLA Karun Sachdev said the action will be taken under sections 18-A and 18-c of Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940 in the recovery of medicines from the house.
He also stated that the license of Sharma Medical Hall would also be canceled and a report about Mittu Medical Agencies would be sent to higher authorities in Chandigarh for suitable action.
He added that the special drive would continue in coming days too and claimed that that the health department is committed for making mission ‘Tandarust Punjab’ a huge success in the district.
