Jalandhar 4 August (Jaswinder Azad)- Eminent Punjabi cultural festival of ‘Teej’ was celebrated in the premises of Lyallpur Khalsa College by the Punjabi Folklore and Cultural Study Center of the college. On this occasion, Gidha, Songs, Group dance and Solo dance were presented. Smt. Gurwinder Kaur, Joint Commissioner Jalandhar graced the program as the chief guest. Sardarni Balbir Kaur President Governing Council, Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra and Jaspal Singh Waraich, Joint Secretary Governing Council welcomed the chief guest with a bouquet of flowers. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra recognized the immense success attained by the women folklore of Punjab in almost every field of events. He also lauded the girl students of the college who have earned laurels for themselves and the institution in the Cultural, Sports and Academic fields. The importance of such programs and their connection to the young generation was also realized from the dice. In her address, Smt. Gurwinder Kaur also stressed upon the need to attach ourselves to such cultural occasions in the modern era and specifically take pride in our rich culture and traditions. The chief guest also lauded the efforts put in by the college and in particular Sardarni Balbir Kaur President Governing Council, Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra along with the entire staff and students of the college. Sardarni Balbir Kaur, President Governing Council stressed upon the need to provide women their rightful place in the society and added that such functions would go a long way in ensuring such a scenario. The coordinator of Punjabi Folklore and Cultural Study Center of the college, Dr. Harjinder Singh Sekhon put forth the vote of thanks for the program. Prof. Gopal Singh Buttar, Head, PG Department of Punjabi also appreciated the function and congratulated the entire Punjabi community on this occasion. The function was enjoyed by the staff and students of the college in equal measure.
