Jalandhar 4 September (Jaswinder Azad)- The English Literary Society of the PG Department of English, Lyallpur Khalsa College organized a special program on the occasion of Teachers’ Day celebration on 4th September 2017. Under the guidance and supervision of Prof. Jasreen Kaur, Head, PG Department of English and Prof. (Dr.) Manmeet Sodhi, President, English Literary Society, this event organized by the Department of English turned out to be a college level mega-program that saw the active participation of around 50 students in various events. Chief Guest for the program, College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra was duly given a flowery welcome by Prof. Jasreen Kaur and Prof. (Dr.) Manmeet Sodhi. Competitions like Poetry Recitation, Fancy Dress Competition and Group Dance competitions added variety of colours and flavour into the proceedings while the enactment of two One Act Plays namely, Romeo-Juliet and Villa for Sale provided a literary touch to the program. After the completion of competitive events the winning students were given the prizes by Principal Dr. GS Samra, Prof. Jasreen Kaur and Prof. (Dr.) Manmeet Sodhi. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. GS Samra highlighted the importance of the day marked as National Teachers Day. The program was also beheld by all the respected Heads of Departments and various staff members of the college. To formally conclude the program, Vote of Thanks was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Manmeet Sodhi. The occasion was also witnessed by Prof. Balraj Kaur, Prof. Hari Om Verma, Prof. Ahuja Sandeep, Prof. (Dr.) Kanchan Mehta, Prof. (Dr.) Charanjit Singh and the entire staff of the Department of English.
