Jalandhar 8 March (Bureau)- The Women Cell of CT Institute of Engineering, Management & Technology (CTIEMT) celebrated International Women’s Day on Tuesday by organizing National Legal Awareness Seminar on “RIGHTS and PRIVELEGIE of Women in the Indian Constitution.”
The speaker of the day Advocate Mrs. Harleen Kaur (Advocate who was representing District Legal Services Authority, Jalandhar) enlightened the audience about the various provisions under the constitution of India for providing Gender Parity amongst the women and men. She informed how the judiciary and legislation together have contributed towards bodily shape to this spirit as enshrined in our constitution.
In her talk, Advocate Ms. Harleen covered specific to the gender equality like Article 14, which provides parity. She highlighted that according to Article 14, “the State shall not deny to any person equality before the law or equal protection of the laws within the territory of India”. She quoted the landmark Supreme Court judgments on the issue of Air India vs Nergesh Meerza case.
Advocate also informed the audience of other articles viz. Article 15 under this she highlighted the section125 of CRPC, article 16 which is for the equality of opportunities, article 39 and article 42. She informed how the judiciary and legislation together have contributed towards bodily shape to this spirit as enshrined in our constitution.
Dr. Manju Bala, Convener, Women Cell and Director, CTIEMT said “I feel proud to work with the CT group of Institutions. For Ladies, the environment is healthy and safe here. ” She encouraged women employee to feel free to speak about any harassment or hurdles, if they may face, during their working hours.
S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) and Dr. P.S. Bedi (Campus Director, CT Institutions) also marked their presence at the event. S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) said that such initiatives are very important to help women in need and to empower them. The whole seminar was very informative and full of awareness for the women employees.
