Jalandhar 14 July (Jaswinder Azad)- A seminar on Income Tax was organized at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya. The resource person of the seminar was I.T.O. (TDS) Jalandhar Mr. S.S. Saini and Inspector Mr. Vipin Uppal. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen welcomed them with a bouquet of flowers. Sh. S.S. Saini told about the provisions of TDS and TCS. He said that tax should be deducted in advance on monthly instalment basis otherwise penalty will be levied on deductee and deductor both. He said that the photocopy of PAN No. should be given to C.A. and deductor for avoiding any kind of discrepancy. The due date of filing quarterly return has been changed to 31st May, 31st July, 31st December and 31st March. He also said that if any property is to be purchased from NRI, then 1% TCS is to be deposited compulsorily. In case of late filing of return, Rs.200/- per day is charged as fine by I.T. department. In this seminar, teaching and non-teaching staff members participated. On this occasion, Mr. Kulwant Singh, Amarjit Khanna, Raman Behl, Pankaj Jyoti, Lakhwinder Singh and others were also present.
