Jalandhar 8 July (Bureau)- Today the residents of four villages in Fazilka reached out to S. Jagmeet Singh Brar, Convenor of Pehlan Punjab Lok Hit Abhiyan and asked him to visit their villages to highlight their plight. The residents of Muthian Wali, Channan Wala, Chudiwala Chishti and Kerian have put their villages and all their properties on sale to the highest bidder after being let down by successive governments. As per village residents 99% of them are under heavy debt due to repeated crop failure and even in this season they have not received a drop water from irrigation services - this is increasing their debt burden and pushing them into bankruptcy and suicide.
During his visit to the villages he met with village elders and community members and heard their problems directly as he joined them in touring these villages and adjoining areas.
He said "These abandoned Punjabis are selling themselves and asking me to arrange for them to join Pakistan. These brave Punjabis stood their ground in wars with Pakistan and did not leave even when the enemy attacked but today's government has taken from them what the enemy could not. It has broken their will to live and be a part of India"
He added "I have been told by many villagers that when they complained to their local MLAs and ministers they told them they will find buyers for their land or even buy it if they sold it at very low prices - they have no shame left, no concern, just greed and dead hearts". He dared CM Parkash Singh Badal to come to these villages for a Sangat Darshan and face the people directly not from behind a security barricade and a high stage.
He concluded by saying "All parties in Punjab must rise above petty finger pointing and meaningless debates and focus on identifying the real problems of Punjab and offering real solutions".
He said "The water in this area is not even fit for animals to drink, they have no irrigation support and Sukhbir should be ashamed because this is the constituency adjacent to Jalalabad - instead of playing communal politics and pointless arrests he should come and apologies to these people".
He added "Sukhbir has bought every bus service in Punjab in addition to Cable TV, Sand and Stone Mafia, Alcohol and Drugs - maybe he wants to enter real estate now and will buy these poor villages also".
