Jalandhar 12 August (Jaswinder Azad)- The new session of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication , GNDU Regional Campus , at Ladhewali here began today on a patriotic note. The orientation for the students included the celebrations for the independence day on August 15. The students made a 10 minute video on the meaning of independence for youth and academicians, which was screened on the occasion. Besides, a movie Purab Aur Paschim was also shown to the students and the staff.
Dr. Namarta Joshi, Head of the Department, outlined the duties of the youth towards their country, while welcoming them. She said that it was very easy to complain and escape the responsibilities of good citizens but difficult to attempt and bring change. She also stressed on the need to be good human beings before being good journalists and not to misuse freedom and democracy.
Earlier, the function began with the Shabad, Deh Shiva Bar Mohe Eh. Dr. Charan Kamal Walia gave a profile and achievements of the department since its inception. Prof . Dr. Kamlesh Singh Duggal also welcomed the students and talked about the role of journalists in the freedom struggle. He gave an overview of the credit based system of examinations to the students. Rajesh sang a patriotic song while Mandeep recited a poem. Sehajpal and Luveena conducted the stage for the programme. Dr. Rupam Jagota , School of Legal Studies, was also present on the occasion.
