Seminar on Legal Awareness in Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar 6 August (Jaswinder Azad)- To spread awareness among the students on legal issues and process, a seminar on the same theme was organized in Lyallpur Khalsa College by the Legal Aid Club of the College. The Chief Guest of the occasion was Justice Gurmeet Singh Tiwana, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary District Legal Services Authority Jalandhar, who informed the students about various legal issues pertaining to them. Speaking on the occasion the college Principal Dr. G.S. Samra said that there needed to be spread more awareness in this regard as many people in society were still in dark about their legal rights, adding that the organizing this event was one such step in this direction. He congratulated Dr. S.S. Bains the convener of the Legal Aid Club of the College on the organization of this event. Prior to this Dr Bains informed the present on the aims and objectives and activities of the club.
On this occasion a poster making competition was organised in which over 50 students participated. The jury consisting of Prof Geetanjali Mahajan, Dr. Amandeep Sandhu and Dr. Inderjeet Kaur declared Tarun of B.Sc. Biotechnology V Semester class as first prize winner, whereas second and third positions went to Namrta and Sham Kumar of B.Sc Biotechnology –II Sem and M.Sc. Physics –I Sem respectively. Tree plantation was also done by the chief guest on the occasion. The occasion was witnessed by the presence of S. Jaspal Singh Waraich Joint Secretary college management and senior teachers of the college. Stage on the occasion was managed by Prof. Gurpriya.
