Apeejay’s 5 Day Kathak Workshop left an unforgettable mark on the hearts of Apeejayites

Jalandhar 14 September (Jaswinder Azad)- The Concluding Day of Apeejay’s 5 Day Kathak Workshop left an unforgettable mark on the hearts of Apeejayites. The renowned Kathak artist Mrs. Vidha Lal disseminated various facets of Kathak to the students as a resource person in this workshop. She has recorded herself in the Gunnies Book of World Records for most numbers of spins (103) in one minute.  She is a disciple of renowned guru Smt. Geetanjali Lal of Jaipur Gharana and also an empanelled artist of Indian Council for Cultural Relations and ‘A’ grade artist from Delhi Doordarshan. She is also credited with ‘Sri Krishana Gana Sabha Endowment Award 2010’.
 On the concluding day, Students of the college mesmerized the audience with their performances of Ganesh Vandana, Tarana Raga etc. The hearts of the audience were stolen away when Vidha Lal spread her angelic beauty on stage while spinning on the rhythms of classical ragas. Her student Varsha also gave a performance showcasing the learnt depth of Kathak. Mrs. Vidha Lal felt elated to be a part of Apeejay’s workshop and she said it was a matter of pride to spend precious moments while teaching the basics of Kathak to the budding artists of the college. Principal Dr. Sucharita, Dr. Arun Mishra and Dr. Amita Mishra expressed their gratitude to the resource person by presenting her a bouquet and a memento as a token of remembrance.
Principal Dr. Sucharita said it is a matter of honour to have such an eminent artist to teach the students the artistic skills required to become a perfectionist in the respective field.
