Jalandhar 12 September (Jaswinder Azad)- Sh Raj Shekhar Attari, Hon’ble District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman District Legal Services Authority Jalandhar inaugurated the Legal Literary Club at HMV to make the students aware of the legal rights. Sh. Gurmeet Tiwana-Chief Judicial Magistrate Cum Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Ms. Harpreet Kaur-Civil Judge-Cum-Judicial Magistrate, Ms. Tarjani Civil Judge-Cum-Judicial Magistrate and Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen also graced the occasion with their presence.
Mrs. Nita Malik, Head of Deptt. Pol. Sc. and Dr. Rajeev welcomed the guests and marked the beginning of the ceremony. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen felicitated the dignitaries and stressed upon the need of motivation among masses for legal awareness. In his keynote address Sh. Attri acquainted the students with the judicial system and the free legal schemes initiated by them.
Second speaker Ms. Harpreet Kaur highlighted the problems faced by women in the society saying that the root cause of many problems is the patriarchical mindset which need to be changed. Ms. Tarjani expressed the need for protection of children rights mentioning the recently enforced laws. She concluded with a pledge towards protecting the children around us.
Sh. Gurmeet Tiwana elaborated on the subject of workers working in an inorganised sector. The events drew to its close with an interactive session. Mrs. Alak Sharma, Ms. Jiwan and many other faculty members were also present on the occasion.
