Jalandhar 12 September (Jaswinder Azad)- With full gusto and zeal, Apeejayites took up brooms to contribute their bit in making India a better place to live in. The NSS Unit of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar celebrated Swachta Diwas by following the footsteps of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Mr. Narender Modi. S. Gurpreet Singh Khehra, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In this venture, various activities like Essay Writing Competition, Cleanliness Drive, Tree Plantation etc. were also conducted. A message of cleanliness was spread by taking an oath and marching in a rally. Mr. Gurpreet Singh Khehra was astonished to see the efforts of the College and highly appreciated it. He said Solid Waste Management Project is the right thing to bring change in the scenario of the City and contribution of each and every native of the country is equally needed. Dr. Sunit, Head, Department of English spread a word of awareness by asking everyone to stop spitting and shifting on the roads. College students brought tears in the eyes of audience by depicting the evil aspects of throwing garbage in a choreography and a skit.
Principal Dr. Sucharita said that in this highly competitive world of technology, we need to make our surroundings dirt free and it can only be possible when younger and older generations of our country will join hands in bringing a change. She also expressed her gratitude to Mr. Gurpreet Singh Khehra who is continuously working day and night to make Jalandhar clean and green.
