KMV organizes an Extension lecture on “Application of Bioinformatics in Genetically modified organisms”

Jalandhar 15 September (Jaswinder Azad)- KanyaMahaVidyalaya- The Heritage Institution, Jalandhar’s Department of Bioinformatics organized an Extension Lecture on “Application of Bioinformatics in Genetically modified organisms”.  Ms. Vibhu Bhatia, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, ShaheedUdham Singh College of Engineering & Technology, Mohali participated as Guest Speaker.  In her talk her emphasis was on how the genetically modified organisms already in market are harmful or useful for present era.  She made students aware of many new techniques  that have been used to make an organism genetically modified and also discussed the negative and positive aspects of these genetically  modified vegetables, fruits and animals.  At last, she threw light on how bioinformatics plays an important role in making these organisms useful for society. She also gave examples of featherless chicken, web spinning goat and glow cat etc. It was very useful to know the contribution of bioinformatics in the field of genetically modified organisms by using my different tools and algorithms.  Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi appreciated the Department for having organized such a useful extension lecture for the students.
