Jalandhar 22 September (Jaswinder Azad)- A dharna was staged by the Non-Teaching employees of colleges of Jalandhar under the banner of Private College Non-Teaching Employees Union, Punjab (aided and unaided) in front of residence of M.L.A. Manoranjan Kalia for fulfillment of long pending genuine demands of the union. Mr. Madan Lal Khullar, State President addressed the dharna and said that the government has granted pay parity to the non-teaching employees of aided colleges and all the benefits have been given by the government at par government employees working in the government colleges. But this time, the government has shown their inability to give the basic allowances and grade and they are giving the assurance for the progressive Punjab without higher education. He also said if the genuine demands like revised pay scale w.e.f. 1-12-11, house rent and medical allowances w.e.f. 1-8-2009, recruitment of ban from the posts of non teaching employees, 4:9:14 step up increment, pension etc. has not been considered by the government they will hold state level rally against the working of the government and convey the same to the general public. The members also burnt the effigy of higher education minister S. Surjit Singh Rakhra in protest of non-acceptance of their genuine demands.
On this occasion, Vice President Bhupinder Thakur, Joint Secretary, Co convener DAV CCC Punjab Ravi Maini, Manav Rakhra, Ram Chander of DAV college, Jagdish Singh of Khalsa College, Mohan Lal and Rma Shankar Tiwari, Daler Singh of Doaba College, Raman Behl of HMV, Amritpal Singh, MGN College of Education, Manohar Lal, Sudarshan of Apeejay college and other members of non-teaching employees union were also present.
