Jalandhar 21 September (Jaswinder Azad)- The Eco Navigators Club of Lyallpur Khalasa College, Jalandhar organised a one day EcoSikh Youth Leadership Environmental Workshop. It was conducted under the aegis of Mr. Ravneet Singh (South Asia Project Manager) and Ms. Gurpreet Kaur (Punjab Affairs) of the Eco-Sikh Foundation. The event drew wide interest and students in large numbers participated with zeal and gusto.
The workshop commenced with a prayer to the environment, thanking nature for the resources it provides us. A short documentary on the Eco-Sikh Foundation was shown to the participants next. The mission of the Eco-Sikh Foundation is to empower the youth to take responsibility and engage them in devising the Environmental Action Plan as their personal responsibility.
The “Why I care” Session proved to be the most fruitful part and evoked enthusiastic response from the students, who provided their inputs on their own feelings and experiences on the issue. The event culminated with a “Call for Action” where the participants were made aware of the way ahead in terms of fund-raising, strategising and forming action groups towards
environmental care.
The Principal Dr. G.S. Samra, while speaking on the occasion, commended the Eco-sikh Foundation for the ground breaking work they were doing. Dr. S.S.
