Jalandhar 20 March (Jaswinder Azad)- To enhance students’ interest towards literature, a special guest lecture was organized by the PG Department of Punjabi, Lyallpur Khalsa College which saw the visit of eminent story writer and Academy Award winner Dr. Waryam Singh Sandhu. College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra gave a floral welcome to Dr. Waryam Singh Sandhu with and expressed his immense delight in mentioning that Dr. Sandhu being a former professor of the college provided excellent services to the institution. While addressing the students in his speech chief guest speaker Dr. Waryam Singh Sandhu shared his views on the art of writing and the creative process that a writer goes through while creating something in text. In his speech, he laid special emphasis on the need of an author to be sensitive towards the surroundings in order to create something worthwhile and also highlighted the contribution made by our ancestors to various stages of Sikh, Punjabi and Indian history as his main influences while writing. Dr. Kulwant Singh Sandhu, HOD, Department of Punjabi provided the vote of thanks to Dr. Waryam Singh Sandhu for his visit to his own college which he also hoped would be immensely beneficial for the students in attendance. Stage on this occasion was managed by Prof. Gopal Singh Buttar and the event saw the presence of all staff members and students of the Punjabi Department.
