KMVites pledge for Punarjot

Jalandhar 20 March (Jaswinder Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-the Heritage Institution, Jalandhar no opportunity for social welfare is let to pass by.  The NCC Department of KMV in collaboration with the Department of Students Welfare has initiated an eye-donation drive alongwith Punarjot (Eye Bank Society), a non profit NGO providing free corneal transplant and eye bank services.  It is a regd. Organization with Punjab Govt. under Hota.  The students were motivated for the same by a motivational address by Brigadier IMS Parmar, Commander , NCC Jalandhar Group.  During his address Brigadier Parmar told the NCC cadets and the students representatives that there were many myths related to donating cornea of the eyes after death. First he clarified that there was no disfigurement of the body as the whole eye-ball was not removed, next it was illogical to believe that if one was cremated or buried without complete eyes one would be born blind in the next birth, which was only a popular superstition and nothing else.  He made the students realize that it would be wonderful feeling to imagine that a part of your body be alive even after death.  The students along with the Dean Students Welfare, Dr. Madhumeet, NCC Incharge Lt. Seema Arora alongwith Brigdr. IMS Parmar (who has already pledged to donate his eyes) pledged to motivate five other people to donate the cornea of their eyes after death.  Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi the patron of the whole event observed that it was a very noble cause and was proud at the enthusiastic response that the students gave after the motivational speech.  She exhorted one & all to come forward & work for eradicating corneal blindness.
