Jalandhar 29 March (Jaswinder Azad)- Students from different educational institutions participated in National Science Day celebrations held at Lyallpur Khalsa College. Organised in collaboration with Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh, the event included a seminar on Science and its Significance, in addition to competitions in the categories of poster making, model making, powerpoint presentations and quiz. Welcoming the guests and participants the College Principal Dr GS Samra said that scientific research was the need of the hour and the college was making special efforts in this direction. He said that the college had established ultramodern labs for quality research in advanced fields of science. In his address, the Chief Guest Dr. T.S. Benipal Director Research Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar said that government had a positive approach towards Science but still no significant research was taking place in this domain. He urged the educational institutions to play an active role in this regard.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief speaker Dr. Anupam Kaur, Head, Department of Human Genetics Guru Nanak Dev University, informed the students about the latest developments in science and technology and also how they were useful to human life. Vote of the thanks on the occasion was presented by Dr. Balwinder Singh Chahal Head of the Physics Department of the College. The occasion was witnessed by the presence of the staff and students of the college.
