Jalandhar 28 March (Jaswinder Azad)- Apeejay Institute of Management Technical Campus is organising a three- day Entrepreneurship Awareness Campaign from March 28- March 30, 2017 under the aegis of National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, Implemented by Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad.. Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director, Apeejay Institute of Management Technical Campus, Jalandhar was the Chief Guest of the inaugural session.
The three-day campaign began with a floral welcome of the Chief Guest Dr. Rajesh Bagga.. Dr. Bagga then delivered the inaugural address and stated that the purpose of this camp is to enable the students hone their entrepreneurial competencies. He advised boost and promote the culture of “Creating Jobs” rather than “Doing Jobs” which is the dire need of the hour. It aims at sensitizing the students of creating opportunities for turning their entrepreneurial plans into reality. Dr. Bagga added that he is confident that students have brilliant ideas but it is fear that holds them back. He said that this fear creeps from the very fact that as starters one lacks knowledge of how to get started. There lies the sole purpose of organising this three- day camp as it will bring to students great and eminent speakers to guide them on their journey of being successful entrepreneurs. This was followed by presentation of memento to Director Dr Rajesh Bagga.
Dr. Ashish Arora , Assistant Professor, GNDU College, Jalandhar was the resource person for the next session. Dr. Arora said that in student life there is great scope to give wings to ones entrepreneurial dreams. He elaborated an experiment conducted by students of Stanford University to explain that the idea should be commercially viable. He also elucidated the concepts of‘Design Thinking’ and ‘Bottom of the Pyramid’. He said that one should embrace iterations and as entrepreneurs it is imperative that one thinks from customer’s perspective.
In the post-lunch session, Mr. Rushpinder Singh and Mr. Tarunveer, ex-alumni of Apeejay Institute of Management Technical campus shared their entrepreneurial journey with the students. The resource persons mentioned the importance of being passionate, innovative and having realization of one’s potential. They also explained that as there are not many corporates or MNCs in Punjab, so the absorption rate of MBAand MCA students is not very high in the state. There are bright opportunities for such enterprising spirits who want to go in for start-ups. They added presently lot of impetus is being given to start ups.
Ms. R R Rajan Chaudhary, Dean, School of Business Studies, Apeejay Institute of Management Technical Campus enumerated the traits and successful of successful entrepreneurs. In her address, Ms. Chaudhary began her lecture saying that someone interested in entrepreneuship sould first self explore to assess one’s own personality and attitude. She went on to explain various kinds of ego states individuals are driven by and explained that one needs to be at an ego state in accordance with one’s position or role.. She expressed her confidence that these students can also go on to become great entrepreneurs as they have the potential to realize their vision. She also motivated the students by highlighting the success stories of great entrepreneurs like Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Page, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet etc. The inaugural session ended with memento presentation to honourable Chief Guest.
Mr. Ajwinder Dhillon, Assistant Professor, Apeejay Institute of Management Technical also delivered a presentation on the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in India. He also shared the benefits entrepreneurs enjoy and said that entrepreneurship might be a risky endeavour but it is equally rewarding. Mr. Dhillon also informed the students of how to turn their ideas into reality. He cited the entrepreneurial journey of Mr. Varun Aggarwal, a successful Indian entrepreneur who turned his dreams into reality by being innovativeand enterprising.
