Jalandhar 8 April (Jaswinder Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage Institution, Jalandhar awarded 550 degrees to its scholars of various streams with 27 merit holders in Annual Convocation in 131st year of its glorious and iconic existence. The Chief Guest, Dr. R.K. Mahajan, Dean, College Development Council, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and the eminent dignitaries and worthy members of the College Managing Committee were accorded floral felicitations by the college Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi. The proceedings of the day, presided over by Sh. Chander Mohanji, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal and KMV Managing Committee, took off with great aplomb and ceremonial start. Welcoming the Chief Guest, the college Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi read out a detailed annual report of the college achievements in academic, co-academic, sports, innovative programmes and other multifarious student-sport activities organized successfully during the year. She reiterated institutional social responsibility to respond committedly to momentous issues of youth especially skill enhancement and continue the march towards progression of women through higher education.
In his presidential address, Sh. Chander Mohanji owed his gratitude to University Grants Commission and Guru Nanak Dev University for enabling and providing support to the college in scaling new heights. He motivated the achievers, saying that accomplishments entail responsibilities towards society that must be discharged in a judicious and disciplined way. To mark this historic event, the proceedings of UGC sponsored one day National Seminar on “Information & Network Security: Need, Dimensions & Tactics” by PG Dept. of Computer Science & Applications and a book on Youth: The Drivers of Change by Dr. Madhumeet and Dr. Deepika Anand were also released on this occasion. A spectacular performance in the form of Light and sound show was given by the students of Department of History & Gandhian Studies Centre to mark 100 years celebration of Champaran Satyagrah initiated by the Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi during Indian Freedom Struggle.
Congratulating the degree holders, Dr. R.K. Mahajan wished them all for their bright future ahead. He made a special mention of the illustrious history and glorious heritage of the college that is poised to scale newer heights with bigger social responsibility in the field of higher education. Moral & traditional values imbibed by the graduates must be put into professional and community service in their march towards empowerment. The Vice-President, KMV Managing Committee, Dr. Sushma Chawla extended a vote of thanks to the Chief Guest for his illuminating presence. The worthy member of KMV Managing Committee namely Sh. Dhruv Mittal, Joint Treasurer, Sh. Virender Sabharwal, Smt. Neeru Kapoor, Dr. Satpal Gupta, Sh. Sanjay Sabharwal also graced the occasion. Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the incharges Dr. Madhumeet & Mrs. Sadhana Tandon on the successfully completion of Convocation.
