Jalandhar 27 May (Gurkirat Singh)- Students of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar who excelled in university examinations in 2016-17 were awarded scholarship in a special function organized in the College today. Awarding the Sihota Scholarship worth Rs.60,000/-. During this occasion Shrimati Kanwaljeet Kaur was the chief guest and her son Mr Sarabjot Singh was the guest of honour. The scholarship is presented by the family of Shrimati Kanwaljeet Kaur. Speaking to the gathering, Dr. G.S. Samra, the Principal of the College informed that Sihota Scholarship was earlier instituted by the efforts of Late Dr. M.S. Hundal, Professor, Department of Chemistry, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. After death of Dr Hundal it still continues with the tireless efforts of his wife Dr. Geeta Hundal, Department of Chemistry, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar. He also informed that the college procures scholarships for the meritorious students. President of College Governing Council Sardarni Balbir Kaur said that the College was committed to provide quality education to its students and it would ensure all possible help to the deserving and needy students. Prof. Tawinder Pal Kaur Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Jasreen Kaur, College Registrar, Prof. Manohar Singh Dean Administration, Prof. Santokh Singh HOD Mathematics, Prof. Gopal Singh Buttar HOD Punjabi and Prof. J.S. Rana were also present on this occasion.
