Jalandhar 8 September (Jaswinder Azad)- To make students aware of career opportunities in the Indian Air Force, 2-Day Indian Publicity Exhibition Vehicle (IPEV) Road Drive was started at CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur Campus on Friday. The drive was organized in the guidance and supervision of District Administration, Jalandhar in collaboration with District Bureau of Employment Generation & Training and CT Group of institutions. The team of IAF officers headed including Flight Lieutenant Rahul Chauhan, Flight Lieutenant Vikas C., Flight Officer Uday Kiran and others by Wing Commander Sangeeta Kathit informed the students about varied career opportunities and possibilities in the Indian Air Force. More than 1500 students attended the seminar and were encouraged to join the different branches of the IAF including technical, flying and ground duty. The event was attended by Faculty and Technical and Non-Technical graduates.
Earlier, the IPEV Road drive was inaugurated by Sh. Rajeev Verma (SDM, Jalandhar-1), Mrs. Sanjeeda Beri (Deputy Director, District Bureau of Employment Generation & Training), S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group), Mr. Harpreet Singh (Vice Chairman, CT Group), Dr. G.S. Kalra (Campus Director, CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur), Mr. Abhishek Soni (Deputy Director, Centre for Career Planning & Counseling, CT Group of Institutions), Capt. I.S. Dhami (Deputy Director, Youth Services Department, Jalandhar) in the presence of other members of the management, faculty and students.
Wing Commander Sangeeta Kathit apprised students about the employment opportunities in the Air Force, requisite qualifications and capabilities for the jobs and recruitment process. She informed the students on “How they prepare themselves, if they want to pursue a career in Indian Air Force as Airmen.” Students were also informed about AFCAT Test which is followed during selection of an officer into various arms and services of the Indian Air Force including an insight into the various illustrious training institutions available in the country for training of an officer. The event concluded with informal but informative interactions of students with the IAF officers on various entry schemes & opportunities in the armed forces.
Sh. Rajeev Verma (SDM, Jalandhar-1) motivated the students to serve in IAF. He also took the glimpse of IPEV vehicle, he acknowledged the presence of IAF officers and shared the issues will be faced by the students after applying for the IAF. H e said, "Nothing is difficult, Nothing is impossible, it's just that you have to put best of your efforts to get the best."
S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group) conveyed his gratitude towards District Administration and IAF for providing students with an opportunity of getting an insight of what IAF has to offer to the youth in case they choose armed forces as their career. He said that there are a lot of opportunities present for today’s youngsters, provided they are aware of them. Proper awareness regarding their careers should be there among students.”
