Jalandhar 14 November (Jaswinder Azad)- On the directions issued by Sh. Arpit Shukla, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Zone-II, Jalandhar,Sh jaskaranjit Singh, IPS, DIG, Jalandhar Range, Sh. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar (Rural) and Sh. Sandip Sharma, PPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kapurthala, a police party comprising of Sh. Surinder Mohan, PPS, DSP/Investigation and Sh. Sarabjit Rai, PPS, DSP/Kartarpur under the supervision of Sh. Balkar Singh, PPS, SP/Investigation and Sh. Jaskiranjit Singh Teja, PPS, DSP/Headquarters, Kapurthalacracked down the case of looting cash from the Cash Van of HDFC Bank in the area of PS Bhogpur within half an hour in which Rs. 01,18,50,000/- was looted on gunpoint on 10-11-2017.

addressing the press media informed that on 10-11-2017 at about 03:00 PM, Sh. Rajinder Pal Singh s/o Sh. Surjit Singh r/o Jagdev Kalan, district Amritsar (Presently resident of House No. 104-A, Guru Ramdass Avenue, Airport Road, Amritsar who is posted as Editor in HDFC Bank Main Branch in Cash Van Mahindra Maxima bearing Registration No. PB-65-AD-3724 being driven by Charanjit Singh@ Rishu s/o Sukhdev Singh r/o Rama Mandi, Jalandhar alongwith Rajiv Kumar s/o Balkar Singh r/o House No. 50, New Basant Nagar, Near Preet Nagar, Sodhal Road, Jalandhar, Gurpreet Singh s/o Gurmit Singh r/o Village Padhiana, PS Adampur, district Jalandhar and Surinderjit Singh, s/o Nirmal Singh r/o Khabe Rajputan, PS Mehta, district Amritsar (Presently resident of Hargobind Nagar, Dhogri Pathankot Road, Jalandhar) who is posted as Gunman and holder of 12 Bore Double Barrel Gun left the Main Branch to put Rs. 2,16,50,000/- in various ATMs of HDFC Bank. At about 03:00 PM, while after putting the money in 06 ATMs when they were heading from Bhogpur towards Village Dhingrian falling in the area of jurisdiction of PS Adampur reached Bansal Service Station near Village Manakrai, one Indigo Car without any Registration Number Plate suddenly stopped in front of the Cash Van. The motorcycle riders on three motorcycles who had covered their faces were already present there, who immediately surrounded the van and one of them fired at the gunman of the cash van and dragged all of the bank employees out of the van. One of them snatched the rifle from the gunman and unloaded the same and put the cartridges of the gun in his pocket and thereafter took them to the Service Station on gunpoint while the other co-accused broke down the rear door of the van and also the lock of the Trunk and snatched Rs. 1,18,50,000/- and left the spot. In this regard case FIR No. 229 dated 10-11-2017 u/s 395/307 IPC, 25 Arms Act was registered in PS Bhogpur, district Jalandhar (Rural).
On receipt of the information, the police of district Jalandhar was put on high alert
and nakabandi was done and search was conducted. Sh. Sarabjit Rai, PPS, DSP/Kartarpur and SHO PS Kartarpur immediately developed the information and trailed the Indigo Car use in the crime and signalled the driver of the same to stop. The accused driving the car started firing at the police party upon which the police also retaliated the fire and overpowered him. During the cross firing, the accused received bullet injury, who was immediately rushed to Sacred heart Hospital, Jalandhar. One Indigo Car, One 12 Bore country-made pistol and 02 empty cartridges were recovered from his possession. During the preliminary investigation, the arrested person revealed his identity as Ranjit Singh s/o Sukhdev Singh resident of Village Lakhan Khole, district Kapurthala.
During the preliminary investigation Ranjit Singh revealed that (1) Satinderpal Singh @ Happy s/o Gurdip Singh r/o Nadala, PS Subhanpur, district Kapurthala, (2) Sukhwinder Singh @ Nimma s/o Boota Singh r/o Village Lakhan Khole, Mohalla Rawa Wala, PS Subhanpur, district Kapurthala, (3) Jaskaran Singh @ Bau s/o Balwinder Singh r/o Harchowal, district Gurdaspur, (4) Gurpreet Singh @ Gopi s/o Mangat Ram r/o Kamrawa, PS Bholath, district Kapurthala, (5) Sukhdev Singh @ Sonu s/o Kashmir Singh r/o Dala, PS Bholath, district Kapurthala & (6) Hardip Singh @ Deepa r/o Lakhan Kalan, district Kapurthala were co-accused in the case.
On the basis of the preliminary investigation of accused Ranjit Singh, Inspr. Harinder SinghGill, In-charge CIA Staff-I, Jalandhar arrested Jaskaran Singh @ Babu s/o Late Balwinder Singh r/o Budha Balan, Bhaini Mian Khan, district Gurdaspur from his house and recovered Rs. 13,38,000/-, 01 Pistol 315 Bore, 02 cartridges 315 Bore, 03 live cartridges 12 Bore and 01 empty cartridge from him.
In this regard various police teams were constituted on Range level and as a number of accused were resident of Kapurthala district, this task was given to the police of Kapurthala district. A special investigation team (SIT) constituting of Sh. Jaskaranjit Singh Teja, PPS, DSP/Headquarters, Kapurthala and Inspr. Jatinderjit Singh, In-charge CIA Staff, Kapurthala alongwith police party was sent to Rajasthan. The said police party raided the house of Banwari Lal (Maternal Uncle of accused Manoj Kumar) resident of village Barla, district Sikar, Rajasthanand arrested Manoj Kumar Sharma (aged about 22 years) s/o Sarwan Singh r/o village Ramgarhia, Khakhan Wali Gali, Nadala, PS Subhanpur, district Kapurthala and recovered Rs. 16,37,000/- from him, accused Sukhdev Singh @ Sonu (Aged about 30 years) s/o Kashmir Singh r/o Dallan, PS Bholath, district Kapurthala and recovered Rs. 14,96,000/- from him and Satinderpal Singh (Aged about 25 years) s/o Gurdip Singh r/o Model Town, Bholath, district Kapurthala and recovered Rs. 16,98,500/- from him.

Accused Jaskaran Singh @ Bau (Aged about 20 years) s/o Late Balwinder Singh resident of Budha Ball, PS Bhaini Mian Khan, district Gurdaspur during the preliminary investigation revealed that he is educated upto 5th Class and he is unmarried. He used to be a labourer and as he is not having any property, he alongwith his brother in law committed the said crime.
Accused Satinderpal Singh @ Happy (Aged about 25 years) during the preliminary investigation revealed that his education qualification is M.Sc. Computer. He is unmarried and earlier he was employed in HDFC Bank, Jalandhar. About 5 years ago, he left the job of the bank and presently he was employed in Hamira Mill. This accused was the one, who was the mastermind in planning the whole incident of looting.
