Jalandhar 15 February (Gurkirat Singh)- English literary Society of Post Graduate Department of English, Lyallpur Khalsa College organized a one day work shop on ‘Importance of English Language in Daily Life and at Workplace in India’. The workshop organized in the IT Block Auditorium of the college was carried out in two different sessions. Dr. Gurupdesh Singh, an eminent scholar on the concerned subject was the chief guest for the first session and he was duly welcomed to the college by Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra, Prof. Jasreen Kaur, Head, PG Department of English and Dr. Manmeet Sodhi, President, English Literary Society. As per the proceedings of the first session, Chief Guest Dr. Gurupdesh Singh delivered an extensive lecture on the various facets of English as a Language and providing a solution to the problems encountered by the non native learners. The second session saw the presentation of a documentary ‘The Sikh Immigrants behind Italian Cheese’. Based on the display of this documentary a panel discussion session was followed and some practical exercises were also conducted on the same subject. Participating students and those with exceptional contributions in various sections of the program were honored to conclude the program. The occasion was also witnessed by the Dr. Balraj Kaur, Prof. Hari Om Verma, Prof. Ahuja Sandeep, Dr. Charanjit Singh along with the other faculty members of the Department and a large number of staff members and students of the college.
